Based on Shakespeare's classic comedy Twelfth Night; or, What You Will, Illyria was written in the 1930s by WIlliam Diebels (music) and Dr. Maurice Hartmann (libretto). The work, which combines Shakespeare's unique brand of comedy with the energy and spirit of a Gilbert-and-Sullivan operetta, was scheduled to be premiered in St. Louis at the time, but the production never took place due to events during the Great Depression. With a cast of more than 25, an orchestra of more than 35, and epic scenery and costumes, this is the biggest show we've ever produced. Join us for the world premiere of this fabulous, long-lost masterpiece!
Performances are on Fri. & Sat., January 16 & 17, 2015, at the Lexington Opera House. Tickets will go on sale Monday Dec. 1, and all seating is reserved, so order your tickets now!
